Zapped
It seems like it's been a while since I last updated, so here's a quick speedpaint of Scatman Crothers from a screengrab of "Zapped" I just did over lunch.
My pleasure! I always find it really interesting to see other artists process, so it would be churlish of me not to put some of mine up occasionally. I generally don't use this process when drawing straight from imagination though, I normally go rough lines first rather than block colour.
Cheers Thom! I only saw Zapped for the first time in March this year, I can't believe it's not more well know in the UK; I don't know if it's better known in other countries? The colours in it are gorgeous so I took a LOAD of screengrabs. I'll probably do quick one of Heather at some point!
" I don't know if it's better known in other countries?"
It's most popular in The Philippines. David Pomeranz still tours there singing, "Got to Believe in Magic" and "We're the King and Queen of Hearts" from the soundtrack. In the U.S. it is a cult film defined as one that fifty people have seen, fifty times each :-).

Thanks for putting these process images up, it's great to see how you go about blocking and layering

Hi Ben,
Nice work. I posted it at the "Zapped!" fangroup on facebook.

Why Scatman and not Heather Thomas?

I look forward to your Heather Thomas rendering.
